Damietta University welcomed the Computer Science and Informatics Sector Committee

              Today, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Professor Dr. El-Sayed Mohamad Dadour, President of the University, welcomed members of the Computer Science and Informatics Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities; To hold their periodic meeting this month at Damietta University, and he was accompanied by Professor Dr. Wael Abd Al Kader Awad, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence at Damietta University. The President of the University welcomed Professor Dr. Yousry Saber El Gamal, former Minister of Education, and the members of the committee headed by Professor Dr. Iman Ali Tharwat Ismail and Professor Dr. Mohamed Heshem Abd Al Aziz, Secretary of the Committee, and the deans of the faculties of computers and information at the level of Egyptian universities and professors of computers, information and artificial intelligence from various universities. The meeting was preceded by an inspection tour inside the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence at Damietta University. The tour began with a welcome to a robot implemented by students in the committee, then he approached the president of the university and greeted and shook his hand. This robot was designed and implemented by university students and is powered by solar energy and is being developed successively to carry out tasks more complicated. Then the president of the university accompanied the members of the committee to see the latest laboratories specialized in the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, which are as follows:

3. Student’s Advanced Programming Lab  

4. Workshop Lab 

5. Electorinc Lab 

6. Cyper Security Lab

7. Robotics Lab 

8. General Training Lab 

Professor Dr. Yousry El-Gamal and the members of the committee, the deans of the faculties, praised the level of progress in the college’s laboratories, as they contain the best specialized equipment in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, bioinformatics, and electronics, and there is no analogue to it in any of the other faculties of computing in the universities. Egyptian academies. Then the president of the university accompanied the committee on an inspection tour of the university's facilities. Then, He opened the meeting of the Computer Science and Informatics Sector Committee meeting, which was held in the council hall of Damietta University, where he welcomed at the beginning of the meeting the members of the committee. The President of the University confirmed that the faculties of computers and information have become one of the important faculties. Because the state's orientation is linked to interest in artificial intelligence and the Internet of things, and the labor market is in dire need of qualified cadres from these faculties; To keep pace with the tremendous development in information technology, pointing out that the political leadership pays close attention to this sector and its colleges, and the College of Computers and Information has been equipped with the latest equipment and laboratories. To graduate cadres trained in artificial intelligence technology. Professor Dr. El-Sayed Mohamad Dadour, President of the University, announced that the university has new academic programs that keep pace with the needs of the labor market. He stated that all the expertise and capabilities of the College of Computing will be not only in order to prepare cadres, experts and professionals, but will also be at the disposal of the people of Damietta and the requirements of society. Damietta in all areas of life, especially that modern technology, artificial intelligence, and the latest college laboratories will certainly contribute to the development of the furniture industry in Damietta to keep pace with the modern furniture industry and the introduction of metal and glass materials in addition to wood in manufacturing to keep pace with contemporary taste. He also watched a practical presentation with the guests. For how to engrave, cut, draw, print, and other things that will help in developing the furniture and textile industry, and for life to return, God willing, to workshops and factories. He stressed to Professor Dr. Wael Abd Al Kader Awad, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, the necessity of conducting courses through the Public Service Center to train makers on modern technology in the furniture industry and its complementary industries. After that, the president of the university asked for permission, and left the hall for the professor, the head of the committee, to start the work of the committee, wishing the committee success and payment. It is worth noting that the Computer Science and Informatics Sector Committee is held monthly in the Computer Colleges, in order to achieve the following objectives:

1- Discussing all issues related to the computer, information and artificial intelligence sectors.

 

2- Implementing the state's vision towards digital transformation in all sectors of the state to improve the services provided to students and citizens.

 

3- Standing on the progress of the laboratories of the Faculty of Computing and Artificial Intelligence in universities.

 

4- Evaluation of the institutional capacity of the faculties of computers and artificial intelligence.

 

The committee's praise that the college's laboratories are the best among its counterparts in Egypt is an incentive that pushes the college for further development.
