Damietta University has made remarkable progress on the global, continental, regional and local levels in the Spanish Scimago ranking for 2021.

Damietta University was able to rank 760 at the international level according to the international academic institutions' classification in the Scimago 2021 ranking, achieving a progression of 11 places.

At the African level, according to the ranking of governmental institutions in Africa, Damietta University ranked 53 female investigators, progressing by 29 centers.

At the level of the countries of the Middle East, Damietta University ranked 92, achieving a progress of 36 places.

 At the local level, Damietta University got the 19 position, with a progression of 7 places.

  Note that the number of universities participating in the Scimago ranking for the year 2021 reaches 7533 universities and research institutions

It is worth noting that the Scimago classification is concerned with the ranking of universities and research centers according to a composite index that combines three different indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%), and each main index includes a number of sub-indicators, Such as the research volume of universities in terms of the number of published papers, university statistics and outputs in terms of the quality of the journals in which the research is published, the number of reference citations, and the relative impact coefficients of journals, provided that the institution publishes no less than 100 papers in the SCOPUS database in the year of evaluation.

Damietta University's progress in this classification came as a result of a clear-headed vision and plan adopted by Professor Dr. El Sayed Mohamad Dadour the president of the University, and its implementation is supervised by Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabei, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
