Under the auspices of Professor Dr. El Sayed Mohamad Dadour  the president of the University and the supervision of Professor Dr. Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the distinguished performance of the classification team headed by Dr. Amany Al-Diasty, Damietta University progressed in the international ranking of universities according to URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) for the academic year 2020 /2021. It advanced 156 world top position over the previous year, and the university's ranking was as follows:

 In the Arab world ranked 55^th.

At the level of Egyptian public universities ranked 20^th.

In the world ranking , it achieved the position 2075.

It is worth mentioning that this classification is based on research performance indicators that reflect the quality and number of researches as well as the number of reference citations for those researches over five consecutive years and the total number of scientific publications of university employees that were published in a database { Web of Science } and the impact factor of these articles as well as the extent of Participation in the international researches .
