On Thursday 12 / 12/ 2019, Damietta University in cooperation with the Association of Islamic Universities organized a forum to celebrate the International Day of the Arabic language sponsored by professor Dr. El Sayed  Mohamad  Dadour the president of the university and professor Dr. Osama Al Abd – the Secretary-General of the Association of Islamic Universities under the title "Mechanisms of advancing the Arabic language scientifically and practically". The event was organized by the Department of Arabic Language, Faculty of Arts. professor Dr. Hamed Al Far contributed the main role, who proved that all disciplines like the Arabic language and they  exert their utmost efforts to preserve its authenticity as a first line of defense for the Arab identity. A large number of scholars and specialists in the Arabic language and Islamic studies attend the forum. The event started with the presentation of a documentary film about Damietta and its university and the most famous writers and poets in Damietta in modern history. The president of the university welcomed the attendees from the executive authorities, Al-Azhar and the Church. The forum revolved around the Arabic language and its role in the interdependence of Muslim people, the most prominent contemporary challenges facing the Arabic language, Arabic language and legislative reform and the role of linguistic councils and cultural institutions in facing contemporary challenges. Several recommendations were issued by the forum, the most important of which was the establishment of a program for Arabic calligraphy at the Faculty of Arts, and the name of the poet Farouk Shousha was given to one of the university's stands in recognition of the university for its prominent role in the service of the Arabic language.
