Egypt and Spain Launch the Ninth Call for Technological Cooperation with Funding Up to €150,000 per Project

The Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF), in collaboration with the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology in Spain (CDTI), has announced the opening of applications for the ninth call of the Egypt-Spain Technological Cooperation Program.

The program aims to support and link scientific research with industry, encouraging Egyptian researchers to apply their research and outputs to address industrial challenges. It also seeks to strengthen technological cooperation between the two countries in technological development, innovation, and technology transfer projects. This collaboration aims to achieve mutual economic benefits for both countries and enhance competitiveness in several fields, including: agriculture, water resource management, health, construction, renewable energy, environment, strategic industries, transportation, as well as tourism and archaeology.

In this context, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that this program reflects the ministry's commitment to supporting international partnerships that link scientific research with industry to achieve sustainable development. He added that collaboration with Spain opens new horizons for innovation and technological development, contributing to solving industrial challenges and driving tangible economic progress, enhancing Egypt's position on the global scientific map.

Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF), emphasized that the program seeks to integrate scientific research with industrial applications to enhance the impact of scientific research on the economy and society. He noted that this collaboration represents a strategic step toward developing innovative technological solutions for shared challenges, opening opportunities for Egyptian researchers and industrial companies to establish fruitful international partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

Applicants must hold a PhD and be affiliated with an Egyptian research institution. Collaboration is required with an Egyptian industrial partner (companies or industrial entities) and a Spanish industrial partner.

The STDF will provide funding for accepted projects with up to €150,000 for the Egyptian side.

The application deadline is April 30, 2025. Interested researchers are invited to submit their proposals through the STDF’s official website, where the detailed rules and conditions for the call can be found via the following link:
