Damietta University achieved a distinguished position in the Nature Index World University Rankings 2024, that ranking fifth among Egyptian universities in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and 1,634th globally in this field. In the field of Chemistry, the university ranked 17th locally out of 23 Egyptian universities participating in the ranking, covering the period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, President of the University, expressed his pride in this achievement, saying: "This ranking is an indicator of the realization of our vision to enhance our scientific standing locally, regionally, and globally. Our strategy, which focuses on supporting qualitative scientific research and providing a stimulating environment for researchers, was a key factor in this achievement." We will continue to work towards achieving further progress in the coming years." The Nature Index is one of the most prominent tools for assessing the research performance of academic institutions globally. It is based on monitoring the number of research papers and articles published in prestigious scientific journals in specific fields, including life sciences, physical sciences, chemistry, and earth and environmental sciences.
