Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, opened the symposium “Preparing for the labor market in light of artificial intelligence mechanisms” organized by the College of Commerce today, November 6, 2024, and hosted by Dr. Ahmed Abd Al Akher, lecturer at the American University and director of human resources at one of the international companies In the presence of Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Yasser Samra, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, and Professor Dr. Wael Abd Al Wahab, Vice President of the Faculty of Commerce for Education and Student Affairs. In his opening speech, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, highlighted the importance of planning for the future, noting that students may possess the necessary skills and competencies, but they may face difficulty in marketing themselves in the labor market. The university president added that the priority in jobs is now for specialized skills, and in this regard the university offers packages of training programs through the Professional Development Center to qualify students for the labor market by developing and refining their job skills. The symposium included a lecture presented by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Akher, which discussed how to successfully design and plan a career path, in addition to strategies for choosing the appropriate career path for students based on their qualifications and professional inclinations. Time management skills and productivity rules to achieve professional goals were also reviewed. The symposium witnessed wide interaction from the attending students who expressed great interest in the content that was presented, stressing the importance of this type of event in preparing them for the requirements of the modern labor market.
