The "Future Science Challenge" Competition in Collaboration with ALECSO

        prof./ Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture (UNESCO - ALECSO - ICESCO), emphasized the crucial role of the National Commission in participating in the implementation of programs and projects of the three organizations (UNESCO, ALECSO, ICESCO) to align with the objectives of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

In this context, the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture (UNESCO - ALECSO - ICESCO), in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and under the sponsorship of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, announced the launch of the "Future Science Challenge" competition in its first edition across the Arab world.

Objectives of the Competition:
Dr. Sherif Saleh, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector and Supervisor of the Egyptian National Commission stated that the competition aims to promote and support a culture of talent and innovation by organizing the first competition for talented students in modern technology across the Arab world. It encourages students to innovate in science, technology, and education, equips talented Arab students with foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, and prepares them for future careers. The competition also aims to empower talented students to showcase their abilities in a competitive environment while enhancing their social and personal skills, such as presentation techniques, leadership, and teamwork.

Participation Criteria:

  • Each team must consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of three students holding the nationality of any Arab country.
  • Each team must have a supervisor who is at least 18 years old and not enrolled in school education.
  • Participants must be aged between 10 and 18 years and actively enrolled in school education.
  • Teams will be divided into two categories based on the participants’ ages: Junior and Professional.
  • All team members must belong to the same age group.
  • Supervisors must register their teams by filling out the application form on the official competition platform.
  • Participants must be nominated by official entities recognized for supporting talented students in their respective countries.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Design skills.
  • Innovative thinking.
  • Use of technology and electronics.
  • Programming ability.
  • Presentation and communication skills.
  • Relevance of the project to the competition theme.

Application Timeline and Awards:

The competition will open for submissions starting September 1, 2024. Numerous prizes and incentives will be offered to encourage participants in the Future Science Challenge across all age categories:

  • Future Science Challenge Champion.
  • Four subsidiary awards: Best Designer, Best Innovator, Best Engineer, and Best Presenter.
  • Each winning team member will receive a prize of AED 10,000 (ten thousand dirhams). Additionally, each student receiving a subsidiary award will be granted AED 5,000 (five thousand dirhams).
