In its first participation, Damietta University won the third place in Egypt Electric Car Rally “EVER” competition, which concluded its activities yesterday, August 15, 2024, in its fifth edition in New Alamein City. It is worth noting that the Egypt Electric Car Rally “EVER” competition is the first competition of its kind in Egypt to design and manufacture electric cars, and aims to create an encouraging environment for the electric car industry in Egypt, and prepare cadres of Egyptian engineers in this vital field. This year's edition included a focus on 3 categories of the race: (the self-driving car programming category, the dynamic racing category, which is specific to body parts, the chassis, the braid, and the suspension system, in order to increase the proportion of local products in the cars, and the third category includes a complete design of the car parts and testing them in a simulated environment similar to the conditions of the Egyptian environment ). 43 student teams from 28 Egyptian universities participated in the competition, with 750 male and female students participating in this year’s edition. The closing ceremony of the competition witnessed the presence of Professor Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, and a number of ministers and officials. While the DU Racing team representing Damietta University, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abd Al Hadi, a teacher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, achieved unprecedented achievements in the qualifiers of the competition categories, which are:

- Obtaining an evaluation of the best exterior design among the participating cars.

- Obtaining third place in the general evaluation of the competition.

- Obtaining third place in terms of design.

In the same context, the university president congratulated the DU Racing team on winning third place, expressing his pride in the team achieving this honorable achievement, which reflects the university’s support and its keenness to hone the students’ talents and develop their spirit of creativity and innovation. The University President emphasized the competence of Damietta University students, their distinction, and their ability to participate effectively in local and international competitions in various fields, and to win advanced positions, pointing out the importance of these competitions in developing the spirit of competition among students and creating new horizons for cooperation and exchange of experiences, which contributes to building Their leadership and effective personalities.
