The University President witnesses a workshop in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

             Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, witnessed the activities of a workshop entitled: “Availability in Education in Light of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research,” which was held in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and representatives of the higher councils of public,  private and technological universities, in addition to to a group of university presidents and ministry leaders. Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed during his address that the higher education system in Egypt is witnessing great development thanks to the unprecedented support from the political leadership, which aims to accommodate the increasing demand for university education. He pointed out that the expansion of the establishment of new universities and the development of modern educational programs has become an urgent necessity to keep pace with population growth and the needs of the local, regional and international labor market. The minister added that the diversity of higher education institutions in Egypt, which include public, private and technological universities, in addition to branches of international universities, contributes to enhancing the quality of education and scientific research. He also stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with prestigious international universities to offer distinguished study programs and attract international students, in addition to supporting applied scientific research and joint financing of research projects. For his part, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, pointed to the great efforts made by the state to increase educational availability and develop the infrastructure of universities, stressing the importance of developing study programs to meet the needs of the future labor market. He also pointed out the necessity of integration between universities and industrial institutions to ensure that graduates are fully qualified to compete in the labor market. Dr. Cyril Clark, Executive Vice President of Virginia Tech University in America, also gave a presentation on the university's vision for international cooperation in the field of cross-border education, pointing out the university's admission mechanisms and the scholarship systems it offers. He stressed the importance of linking academic programs with industry needs, promoting multidisciplinary learning, and creating an educational environment that stimulates creativity and innovation. Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the media advisor and official spokesman for the Ministry, stated that the workshop witnessed the opening of the door to discussion between university presidents and higher education leaders, and these discussions resulted in presenting positive, fruitful and supportive ideas for developing the educational and research system in Egypt in the future at the level of developing the practical skills of university students according to the needs of the labor market. The official spokesman added that the workshop reviewed the efforts of universities in the accessibility issue, in light of the principles of the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which is based on 7 main principles, which are (integration, interdisciplinarity, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, and leadership).
