The university president meets with students with disabilities to discuss their needs

            Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, met today, October 10, 2024, with students with disabilities at Damietta University, numbering 111 male and female students in various colleges of the university, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abd Al Nasser Anis, Director of the Center, Dr. Amr Ismail, Deputy Director of the Center, and Dr. Mohamed Ramadan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Damietta. And Professor Samir El-Gamal, Director of the Educational Administration in New Damietta. Professor Dr. Abd Al Nasser Anis, Director of the Center, welcomed students with disabilities at Damietta University, in the opening meeting of the beginnings of the Center’s work to serve its students, thanking the University President for his support for students with disabilities and his keenness to provide an appropriate academic environment for them. Professor Dr. Abd Al Nasser Anis added that according to the directives of the University President, the services of the Center for Students with Disabilities will not be limited to Damietta University students only, but rather the Center will provide its services to students with disabilities in pre-university education institutions. The meeting included a discussion during which the university president listened to the needs of students with disabilities at Damietta University. During the session, the university president directed that the necessary measures be taken to meet the needs of students with disabilities, and to remove all obstacles that prevent them from practicing university life normally and equally. Dr. Mohamed Ramadan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Damietta, thanked the President of the University for his invitation to extend cooperation and support to pre-university education institutions, praising the university’s role in serving the Damietta community. The University President emphasized Damietta University’s keenness to create a supportive environment for students with disabilities, integrate them into all aspects of university life, harness all means to provide support to them, solve difficulties and any problems they may face, and provide them with equal opportunities to participate in all aspects of university life. It is worth noting that the Service Center for Students with Disabilities at Damietta University aims to meet the academic and societal needs of the university’s 111 students with disabilities, and to provide all forms of support, activities and events to ensure raising their efficiency and ability in academic achievement, integrating them into the educational process, and creating equal opportunities for them in the labor market. At the conclusion of the meeting, the university president accompanied the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Damietta to inspect the halls of the Center for Serving People with Disabilities and learn about the services provided by the center, which includes four halls equipped with the latest modern technologies, including seminars and lectures. Training courses and workshops, focus groups, meetings for large numbers, studying using Braille books, small group lessons for people with visual disabilities, small group lessons for people with hearing disabilities, and educational support lessons in the field of specialization. As well as studying and studying using adaptive devices, electronic measurement and evaluation, simplifying the curriculum, training in information technology and the basics of transformation.
