The University President inaugurates a psychological counseling course for imams and preachers

               Today, September 9, 2024, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, inaugurated the psychological counseling and sociology course for male and female imams in the centers of Damietta Governorate, which was organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector in the “Farouk Shousha” conference hall at the university. The symposium activities, which were presented by Professor Dr. Mohamad Maher, Head of the Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts, and lectured by Dr. Amr Ismail, a teacher in the Department of Mental Health at the College of Education, began with the playing of the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an in the voice of Sheikh Khaled Al-Hadidi. This came in the presence of Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Amany Awad, Dean of the College of Education, and His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Salama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments in Damietta. The course is held within the framework of the cooperation protocol concluded between the university and the Ministry of Endowments, which aims to enhance the psychological and social skills of imams and preachers in a way that reflects positively on their role in society and their effective communication with its members. His Eminence Dr. Mohamad Salama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments in Damietta, conveyed the greetings of His Eminence Professor Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, expressing his happiness at the university hosting that session within the framework of its guiding and enlightening role under the patronage of His Excellency President Abd Al Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. His Eminence Dr. Mohamed Salama added that science is the beacon of nations that repels them from misguidance. Accordingly, the university is the beacon of society by which it is enlightened and extends its arms to its children so that they become enlightened and the right path is illuminated for them by which nations are established and aspirations are lifted, which is what the Egyptian state is keen on in order to build humanity. For his part, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, confirmed that Damietta University opens its doors to everyone, as it is not only an institution for education and scientific research, but its role extends by always seeking to direct its capabilities and cadres to serve the surrounding community in all its categories. The university president went on to say that there is ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments to provide many courses and events through the university’s senior specialists to provide scientific support, which contributes to expanding life perceptions and effective skills among imams and preachers to communicate and highlight the image of true, moderate Islam. Dr. Amr Ismail then moved on to the symposium lecture, which included the definition of guidance and guidance and the difference between them, the postulates of educational guidance and guidance, and the fields of psychological guidance.
