The University President opens a symposium “With health and education we build humanity”

         Within the framework of the Presidential Initiative for Human Development “A New Beginning to Build the Human,” Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, opened today, November 6, 2024, a symposium entitled “With health and education we build the human.” Which was organized by the Education and Student Affairs Sector, headed by Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, in the Farouk Shousha Conference Hall, which comes within the activities of the integrated health campaign in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, in the presence of Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies. And research, and a number of university leaders and representatives of the Damietta Health Directorate. In his speech, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, spoke about the Egyptian state’s efforts in presidential health initiatives, pointing out the importance of these initiatives in improving the quality of health care and providing medical services provided to citizens. The university president explained that the initiatives launched by President Abd Al Fattah El-Sisi target many important health areas, such as combating chronic diseases, supporting women’s health, early detection of diseases, and improving health care for mothers and children. , which seeks to achieve the state’s vision of achieving a healthy society, by providing integrated medical care and promoting prevention and early detection of diseases, stressing that the university plays a vital role in supporting these initiatives by providing trained medical personnel and contributing to comprehensive medical convoys and awareness convoys. Health for the local community. In his speech, Professor Dr. Mohamed Abd el Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, stressed that the most important element in the progress of nations is investment in human resources, pointing out that education and health are the two basic pillars for achieving sustainable development, praising the efforts made by the state to enhance the level of health and education in a manner that Serves the Egyptian citizen. Dr. Arwa Ibrahim Badir, coordinator of the “A New Beginning for Building Humans” initiative at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Damietta, spoke about the cooperation efforts between the university and the Directorate of Health Affairs in organizing awareness and health convoys in the centers and villages of Damietta Governorate as part of the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative. Then Professor Dr. Hamza Qabil, Professor of Cardiology and former Dean of the College of Medicine, moved on to lecture the symposium, the topics of which revolved around “How to protect your heart?” The symposium addressed risk factors associated with heart disease such as smoking, obesity, lack of physical activity, and psychological stress, in addition to developing diseases. Such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Professor Dr. Hamza Qabil stressed the importance of preventing these diseases by following a healthy lifestyle that includes proper nutrition and regular exercise. The symposium concluded with an open discussion session, where attendees had the opportunity to ask their questions and inquire about how to prevent heart disease and the importance of early detection.
