The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announces PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Demography, Human Capital, and Sustainable Development at the faculty of Economics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The Southern African Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town (UCT), in collaboration with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), invites applications for three postdoctoral fellowships and three PhD scholarships in Demography, Human Capital, and Sustainable Development. This announcement comes as part of a joint collaboration between the Academy and the Institute. The fellowships include participation in training activities at IIASA (Vienna, Austria) and high-level scientific and policy workshops across Africa, in addition to mentoring by internationally renowned demographers and development economists. Candidates must hold a PhD (awarded within the last 1-5 years) in demography, statistics, economics, or another quantitative social science discipline. They must have experience working with large-scale datasets and quantitative models, and have not previously held comprehensive professional or permanent academic positions. Applicants are required to submit a cover letter. An application specifying research interests and motivation, curriculum vitae including details of conference presentations, papers, and publications (if applicable), academic records for all degrees, and three letters of recommendation.
