The university president congratulates the Christians on Christmas

              In a step that reflects the spirit of national unity and coexistence, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, visited the Church of the Virgin Mary in Damietta, today, Monday, December 30, 2024, to extend congratulations to the Christians on the occasion of Christmas. He was accompanied by Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamed Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, the deans of the university’s faculties, and a number of deputies and students of the “For Egypt” family. The delegation was welcomed in the church by His Eminence Bishop Marcus, Bishop of Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Al-Barari, accompanied by Father Markus Mahrous, Secretary of the Archbishopric of Damietta, and the priests of the church. At the beginning of his speech, the university president began his congratulations to the Christian brothers, saying: “It is a great occasion that reflects the depth of love and brotherhood among all the people of Egypt, and we are here today to express our thanks to God for the blessing of peace that we enjoy in this great country.” He stressed that this visit represents a clear message that Egypt was and will remain a model of peaceful coexistence among all groups of people, pointing out that holidays are not limited to being religious occasions only, but are also occasions that contribute to strengthening ties between Egyptians. The university president added: “Egypt has always been a great country that has been able to preserve its identity and culture despite the many challenges it has gone through, and under the wise leadership of His Excellency President Abd Al Fattah El-Sisi, we are now living in a period of stability and growth, which reflects the strength of the Egyptian state and its steadfastness in the face of the conspiracies against it. He continued, saying: "Today we celebrate Christmas for all Egyptians. These moments remind us of the unity of our people and our common values, which stem from the spirit of belonging to this country." The university president stressed that Damietta University, as a scientific beacon, opens its doors to all the people of Damietta, stressing that the university will always remain a forum for learning and work in order to serve the entire Egyptian community. In a special gesture, the child Arwa Badr recited patriotic poems that included expressive words about love for the homeland and the depth of feelings of unity among the Egyptian people, which added more joy and happiness to the atmosphere of the occasion, and gave the moments of celebration a special character that reflects loyalty and belonging to this dear homeland. For their part, the deans of the colleges extended their warm congratulations to the Christian brothers on the occasion of Christmas, expressing their pride in the annual participation in this occasion, which has become part of the university’s traditions. They also stressed the importance of such meetings that enhance the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among all the people of the country, praising The university plays a major role in consolidating human and national values. For his part, His Eminence Bishop Bishop Marcus expressed his happiness with the visit, which confirms the good spirit on the part of the university administration towards enhancing communication between all sectors of Egyptian society. He also praised the role of universities as a scientific beacon that contributes to spreading science and knowledge, and plays an important role in the nation’s advancement and development. In the same context, Archbishop Morcos Mahrous, Secretary General of the Archdiocese of Damietta, gave a speech in which he praised the role of Damietta University in the educational field and community participation. He said: “We are proud of the distinguished educational and community efforts the university provides, and the annual visit from the university administration has become a cherished tradition for us.” It reflects the values ??of cooperation and love between the people of the country, and we are very happy with this good relationship that we cherish every year.” Damietta University continues its prominent role in strengthening societal and cultural ties between all segments of the Egyptian people, stressing that holidays are national occasions that contribute to strengthening the bonds of love and unity among all Egyptians.
