The Council of the University held its session # 223 in the presence of the Governor of Damietta

* The Governor of Damietta praises the university campus as a source of prestige and experience, considering the university a platform for experts and community elites.

         In the presence of the Governor of Damietta, Professor Dr. Ayman Al-Shehaby, and to enhance cooperation between Damietta University and the governorate, the University Council held its monthly session No. 223 today, headed by Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, and with the membership of Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al-Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and the deans of the colleges. At the beginning of the session, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, welcomed Professor Dr. Ayman Al-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, stressing his full support for enhancing cooperation between the university and the governorate in various academic, social, and economic fields, especially the close cooperation witnessed during that period between the two sides to serve the community. The University President expressed his happiness with the governor joining the University Council, praising his active role in supporting joint work and advancing the governorate. The council members expressed their happiness with the Governor of Damietta’s attendance at the council, as he is a former academic, which enhances cooperation between the university and the governorate. For his part, Professor Dr. Ayman Al-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, expressed his happiness at being on the university campus, expressing his pride in his affiliation to the university system, as he is a former academic, pointing out that the university is a leading scientific institution with an important role in society, as a source of experience and science, it contributes to directing and providing society with science and knowledge. The governor stressed the necessity of continuous cooperation between the university and the government, highlighting the importance of the university remaining a top priority to achieve development goals and the necessity of exploiting its capabilities and academic and research cadres and employing them to serve the governorate and the surrounding community within the framework of fruitful cooperation. The University President began the session by thanking the deans of the colleges for the efforts made in organizing the first term exams for the current academic year. The University President praised the efficient conduct of the exams and their good organization, which contributed to providing a comfortable and safe experience for the students. The Council reviewed the harvest of activities that were implemented in the university’s presidency sector during the month of January 2025, which dealt with a number of academic and development initiatives aimed at raising the level of education and scientific research at the university, in addition to discussing the university’s achievements in the scientific and administrative fields. The Council then discussed the topics on the agenda, including granting 28 academic degrees for master’s degrees, 12 academic degrees for doctorates, granting 5 the practical title of professor, in addition to granting 8 scientific titles of assistant professor, 7 teachers, and appointing one teaching assistant. The University Council honored Professor Dr. Ahmed Ramadan Al-Tantawy in appreciation of his distinguished efforts in developing and advancing the university’s printing press. At the conclusion of the session, the University President stressed the importance of continuing coordination between the university and all state institutions, noting that the university will always remain a fundamental pillar in achieving scientific and societal renaissance in Damietta.
