Activities of the First Annual Conference of the Department of Home Economics

                  The University President attends the activities of the first annual conference of the Department of Home Economics at the College of Specific Education. Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, attended the first annual conference of the Department of Home Economics at the College of Specific Education this morning, Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The conference was held at the college's headquarters as part of a plan to develop academic and research performance and enhance communication between faculty members, students, and the local community. The conference was attended by Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Professor Dr. Al-Metwally Mustafa Salim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, along with Professor Dr. Sherine Ghallab, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Nashar, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohamed Salama, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Talat Sahloul, Professor Dr. Hamed Emara, and Professor Dr. Amal Al-Fayoumy, former heads of the department, were also present. A select group of professors, faculty members, and support staff from the Department of Home Economics also attended. In his opening remarks, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwaly praised the role of the College of Specific Education and its various departments, particularly the Department of Home Economics, in supporting the educational process and linking university education outcomes to the needs of society and the labor market. He emphasized the university administration's commitment to supporting such academic initiatives, which contribute to improving the quality of academic programs and developing students' capabilities. For her part, Professor Dr. Dina El-Bishouty, Professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences and Head of the Department of Home Economics, reviewed the department's most notable achievements over the past year, in addition to those accomplished over the past five years. She noted the diverse activities and initiatives the department has embraced in the fields of education, scientific research, and community service. The conference also witnessed a detailed presentation by the department’s faculty members, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hamed Emara, former Head of the Department of Home Economics and Director of the College’s Quality Assurance Unit, during which he discussed the results of the self-study prepared by the department. The academic quality standards achieved, along with highlighting the program's strengths and areas for improvement, and the future development plan, which includes updating courses, developing student skills, and expanding community partnerships.
