The university president visits the Greek Orthodox Church to offer congratulations

          In the spirit of national unity, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, today, Wednesday, December 25, 2024, visited the Greek Orthodox Church in Damietta, to participate in Christmas celebrations and extend congratulations to the Coptic brothers. He was accompanied by a delegation from the university that included Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamed Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, in addition to a number of deans and vice deans of the university’s colleges. The church celebrations witnessed the presence of Professor Dr. Ayman Al-Shehabi, Governor of Damietta, Major General Essam Hilal, Assistant Minister of the Interior and Director of Damietta Security, Eng. Shaima Al-Sedeek, Deputy Governor of Damietta, and Major General Mohamed Hammam, Secretary General of the Governorate, Brigadier General Staff Mohamad Khalifa, the military advisor to Damietta Governorate, Al- Sheikh Mohamad Salama, Director of the Endowments Directorate, Representative Evelyn Matta, and Representative Ahmed Al-Balshy, members of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohamed Fayed, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Mohamad Anwar Al-Oraby, Secretary of the Organization of “Mostaqbal Watan” in Damietta, along with a number From security and executive leaders, and a number of civil society representatives. The university president congratulated Bishop Hisham Bandleimon, pastor of the church, and stressed that the visit reflects a true embodiment of cooperation and brotherhood between the people of Egypt of different religions. The university president added: “Egypt will not remain strong except with the unity of its people and the strength of its army, and this is the time for solidarity and joint action.” He also stressed that “Damietta University belongs to all the people of Damietta, and we always strive to promote the values ??of tolerance and national unity, thus enhancing the university’s role in serving society.” For his part,  Bishop Hisham Bandelemon welcomed the visit, praising the strengthening of the unity of the Egyptian people, and stressed that this occasion reflects fruitful cooperation between all sectors of society, noting that Egypt will always remain a land of peace and love among all its people.
