In line with the current general orientation of the country to support the competitive ability for the different Egyptian product fields beside the update of the Egyptian industry, the idea of establish the faculty of applied arts at Damietta University was grown up to serve the Egyptian industry. In consideration that Damietta from the promised regions because of existing the industries that have a cultural, technical and technological inherited that needs to improvement and development to support this competitive ability through the existence of development components from technological and human investmentwhereas the human cadres that graduated from the faculty of applied arts consider one of the designers that able to develop products as it is suitable with the international level through the available physical and technological abilities.So from this point, it is inevitable to establish the faculty of applied arts to develop the investment fields in this region. The idea of proposalof establish the faculty of applied arts at Damietta university has come to play its role in develop and support all design branches to serve Damietta community particularly and east delta generally and upgrade it in a civilized way in the applied arts field that support and affirms the strong relations among the university education and the society needs and the production centers through the correlation between the local technical heritage and connect it with the different technical directions represented in the faculties, universities and the Araband foreign authorities. This ofcourse next to the coverage of the labour market which represented in furniture industries and its supplementsfrom metals, ceramics, Textiles, Industrial design in the devices and metal fields.
